Remarkable Goal Celebrations

In the world of football, scoring a goal is one of the happiest moments for footballers and celebrating it is second. There are some footballers who celebrated their goals in a unique way and such celebration remains evergreen in the minds of football fans around the world. This week our Sports desk is focusing on goal celebrations that are filled with personal expressions and cultural display. Here are the top five celebrations we believe blew your mind.

  1. Mario Balotelli:  The fiery Italian let loose some fire crackers in his Manchester top floor penthouse, a day before the derby against Manchester United, which was eventually registered by the visiting fire fighters. This was just five days after his arrogant and ‘in your face’ celebration in front of the Aston Villa fans.
Balotelli opened the scoring by scoring an immaculately timed over head kick. Obviously, he did not smile even after his own team mates congratulated and celebrated with him. He vented out his feelings via a T-Shirt slogan, which he very calmly displayed in front of a jam packed Old Trafford, stunning almost seventy thousand fans of the Red side. He stood still, emotionless and lifted his shirt to rub salt over wounded fans watching in dismay. The celebration got him booked. The celebration, which is already cited as one of the best T-shirt celebrations ever presented in the modern era, certainly came as a breath of fresh air as Mr. Balotelli asked “Why Always Me?”

  2.  Samuel Eto’O: Jose Mourinho is known for his mind games and comments. He played one on his striker saying that Eto’o is getting old and lacks his usual goal scoring skills. Eto’o heard about it but it was not reported that he gave a verbal reply until he scored a superb goal and gave football fans this exciting celebration mocking Mourinho’s comment about his age. He held on to the corner flag, like an old man with his walking stick. Quite a reply I think!
  3. Wayne Rooney:  He celebrated Manchester United's third goal against Tottenham at Old Trafford with a boxing move, referencing a video that appears to show him being knocked out. A day before the match a video emerged in which Rooney appeared to be knocked unconscious in a kitchen boxing bout with a friend, Phil Bardsley, at Rooney's home in Cheshire.
  4. Tahiti Team: The Tahitians gave the world an amusing goal celebration when they scored against the super eagles of Nigeria during the FIFA Confederation Cup in Brazil. Jonathan Tehau headed in a goal in the 54th minute, although they were the underdog of the group but the rowing boat celebration will remain evergreen to their biggest audience yet. The goal generated the biggest cheers of the match in Belo Horizonte. It was like they won the World Cup already!
  5. Asamoah Gyan: The Ghana striker displayed his new dance at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Gyan becomes the first African player to score in three different World Cups and, perhaps more importantly, his goal provided the impetus for a memorable dance routine. His goals kept hope alive for the team and the celebration which followed was superb with he and his teammates grooving along to the cheers of the crowd. Full display of culture.

Celebration comes after success...make every effort to achieve your dreams and aims in all that you do so that when you ‘score’ you can also have a celebration that will remain evergreen in everyone’s mind.
