Recently, PHCN or do we still refer to
them as NEPA, seems to be on top of their games as they have improved in their
duties and power output. If you are a witness to the opposite in your area, my
friend, I will advise you check if your area is still located and marked on the
new Nigerian ‘progressive’ map. Kudos to the members of staff and the Honorable
Minister in charge.
Obviously, apart from the partially
improved power supply in the country every other sectors seems going down the
drain with a speed of light. First of all, the fall of Naira at the Exchange Rate
‘chambers’ was the beginning of the slow collapse of the economy. The Aviation
sector took the first major hit like a fierce bullet piercing through the heart
of the Economy. Foreign airlines could not keep up with the exchange rates as
some frontline players suspends or stop their flights into Nigeria. I thought maybe
our indigenous Airlines were busy watching ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’
until I read that Aero Contractors and FirstNation has suspended operations
with immediate effect. Hmmm!
Then, food stuffs began claiming royalty.
A bag of rice, out of the blue, went up to N20, 000 kilode! My phobia for general markets keeps me away from the source,
kudos to my Wife, from her reports, other food items are adorning new ‘mouth-dropping’
prices as well.
I don’t want to bore you with the obvious
present economic situation in our dear country, because that’s not the basis of
my message today. I hardly engage in unfruitful rants! The effect of the
situation are beginning to manifest from the News and eye witness reports about
unthinkable events currently surfacing all around the country.
Today, I read about two men who,
according to reports, allegedly committed suicide. One around Aboru area and
the other person at Apapa area in Lagos, because they were unable to provide
for themselves and their family. Hmmm, pathetic and disheartening!
I chose to be a Communication expert and
I have minimal knowledge on Economic policies but I can confidently inform you
that the present economic policies in Nigeria is NOT working as expected and
THAT is not a reason to kill yourself!
My focus for today is telling you NOT to
give up. I don’t know your present financial or social situations but that is
not enough reason to commit suicide. The people you feel you are not able to
feed or provide for NEEDS your presence than the food and welfare! Your family
need you for love and motivation. You are a champion and you sure know that
champions don’t give up! Nigeria is presently undergoing a stage I call ‘Rebuilding.’
Imagine, a house that needs renovation where construction workers are busy rebuilding.
There you will see a lot of pull downs, patch ups, dirt and finally till you
see a beautiful edifice. Then you say “wow, amazing!
You have to be hopeful. And do remember
that ‘Tough times never last, but tough people do.’ The pain that you are
feeling now cannot be compared to the joy that is coming. Won’t you rather wait
for it? I have a strong believe that
Nigeria will rise again. Take a cue from the vibrant world famous ‘August
Visitors’ we received in Nigeria in the past few weeks. Mark Zuckerberg,
Facebook Founder and the US Secretary John Kerry amongst others with the same
message that the ‘Future is bright.’
Yes, indeed the future is bright for me
and you! Keep hope alive. God is watching over us all and He is willing to
supply for all our needs. NEVER FORGET THAT. Happy New month and do have successful
days ahead.
Thank you for reading through, endeavor to share this write-up with
your family, friends and colleagues so we all can be hopeful and wake up to our
responsibilities. Cheers to a good and fulfilled life!
