2015 General Elections: Vote Not Violence

On February 14, it will be another opportunity to go to the polls to elect new political office holders in our dear country. As we move closer to the election days, please do not be deceived by the various political campaigns and solicitation. In this part of the world, not all politicians mean what they say or do to win your votes. Some even go the extra-mile by doing what they hardly do; like eating roasted corn with both hands, and riding a motorcycle just to show that they identify with the masses, *yinmu.* Even some will dress in your native attire to show their ‘powdered’ support for your tribe.
Do not be deceived because once they win, they will fly (like Jet-li) in their customized private jet and they will even shove you off the road with their heavily guided exotic convoy.
They will begin to treat you like a relationship that has gone sour

So, before you cast your vote on election days, especially on February 14, take a critical look at the candidate of your choice and be sure of what is at stake for you and the NEXT FOUR YEARS of your life. A Yoruba adage says that “you cannot remain in a river and complain of cold.”
In the year 1993, the general elections were as easy as ABC but recently (since 2011) with bomb blasts; we now count dead bodies like 123. Don’t be a victim be guided.
And by the way, the 'street' theme of this year’s election is Vote Not Violence (in case you don’t know), so don’t put your life at risk by fighting for a politician who will not even recognize you or visit you in the hospital  if you are wounded for his name sake.
Get your Permanent Voters Card, PVC, go out there and cast your vote. If ‘safe and possible’ watch your vote count and go back home in peace!
I already got mine and that day am gonna make it a feBUHARI to remember!
