Today, I want to share with you the
major problem or need I say the greatest stumbling block to achieving success
in life. It is a four letter word called FEAR. It is just only natural to be
afraid but living in fear is not worth it. We tend to be afraid of the unknown.
We live day by day unaware of what tomorrow holds.
For a moment or two we permit the spirit
of fear to dominate and influence our decisions then we are faced with assertions
such as ‘what if it fails?’ ‘What if it did not work out?’ those words show
that you are giving in to the fearful nature.
And who says you cannot achieve your aims and objectives? Okay what if
you give it a trial and you succeed?
I see fear like one of those huge and
hefty bodyguards who stands by the door of an Event Centre. They are obviously placed
there strategically to scare away people without tickets and trouble-makers.
But when you are with your ticket, you feel relaxed to approach the door and
attend the event. Likewise in life, fear stands at the door of success, only if
you’ve got your faith and believe the authentic ticket to success.
I remember when I was in the NYSC
Orientation camp; we do queue and show our meal-ticket before we receive our food.
Some funny colleagues will ‘exchange’ tickets and thereby having access to food
twice or more not minding the consequences. That is not advisable anyway. Like
a meal-ticket, our ideas are vital. If you are afraid and fail to make use of ideas
given to you, someone else will be given that same idea and achieve global
success. So it is up to you!
I urge you to stand up today and work
towards achieving your dreams. Do not let the spirit of fear kill your ideas.
Look, if you try and fail, that will give you an opportunity to learn from the
mistakes and begin afresh wiser and stronger.
From lectures and books that I have read
I am made to understand that FEAR is an acronym of False Evidence Appearing
Real. And that is the truth. They appear real because we tend to focus more on
them than the achievable success ahead.
Here are few ways we can rise above our
fears. First of all, you must endeavor to acquire enough tools needed to
achieve success. Tools here could mean excellent academic qualifications,
cheerful financial status, experience etc.
Ultimately, seek God’s assistance.
Remember ‘except the Lord builds the house, builders’ labor in vain’. Ask Him
to assist you. He alone can grant us our desired success that will last a
lifetime and the assurance of eternal happiness.
Then put your faith into action. Map out
reasonable plans. Plan again. Be careful who you discuss your plans with. There
are people who will not believe in them thereby discouraging your abilities.
Seek for advice from people who have made a mark in your similar pursuit. Keep
in mind that the main focus is success. Nothing but success!
Henceforth, let not your heart be
troubled when you have a mission to accomplish. The road to success is rough
and tough, only those who are strong enough to go through will attain success. Perhaps,
I need to let you know that success is sweet and enjoyable. So, put your faith
in God and assure yourself that the utmost aim is success and nothing else. A
lot of people await your success. Go and fulfill your destiny. You will rise
again. Cheers.
