WHAT THEY SAID…

It is not too late to say happy New Year on the tenth day of January because we should be thankful and joyful to experience the first week in the New Year. The blessings of this year shall not elude us all.
Ok, before we embark on 2017 hustle, we need to understand that our success can be determined by what we choose to do. Don’t wait for it, work for it! Here is a short story to buttress my point.

Long ago, two friends, Bayo and Jare were impatient about their future. In other to satisfy their curiosity, they went to a Diviner to look into what their future holds. Upon looking into their palms and throwing of several cowries.
The Diviner told Bayo that he has a bright future, that he will be so rich and eventually become the King. He was so happy, he jumped up and ran out rejoicing he didn’t even wait to hear about his friend’s future.
Jare summoned courage and drew closer to the Diviner to hear what the future has for him. Lo and behold, the Diviner looked into his eyes and felt sad for him. The Diviner told him that he has a very poor future, that he will be a slave and work for others. Basically that he will be a poor man in future.
Jare walked back home with tears in his eyes.

Meanwhile, the day after, Bayo was already flaunting and gallivanting all around the village in his best clothes and shoes. He even gave himself a nick name ‘Oba’lola’ which means ‘The Rich King of Tomorrow’. Paying no attention to work, he will deliberately walk all around the whole village and greet everyone he comes across and introduce himself by his new nickname.
***That reminds me of a lad in my neighborhood, he is yet to record a song but he has colored his hair and pierced his ears and bought several neck chains. He has not even stepped into the studio yet! That’s by the way!

On the other hand, Jare sat all day in his small room and cried himself to sleep. Until one day, he made up his mind to change his future. He went into a faraway land, he got himself a large farmland and planted yam, rice, beans, pepper, tomatoes, onions etc.
As the years rolled by, there was famine (just like recession) in the land, and people were really hungry. The self-styled Oba’lola was as lean as pankere! The Villagers began searching for food until they found Jare’s farm house filled with several food stuffs. They could not recognize him because he has grown beards and huge in stature.
He recognized them and promised to sell his farm produce to them on one condition, which is ‘They must make him their King’. Without argument, they (including Bayo) all prostrated with their money and called him ‘King’. On that very day they made him their King.

LESSON THEREIN: What they said about you or your future is their opinion, you have got the power to change and make it better in your own way. Your decision and happiness in life is in your hands. Work, learn and be positive-minded. Never mind what they said, he said, she said…all that matters is what you do! So this year what will you do?

In whatever you choose to do this year, I wish you success. Do have a rewarding year ahead! Cheers!
